Steel production

In order to melt iron in a blast furnace during steel casting, a lot of thermal energy has to be used; while the casting strand solidifies and cools down to ambient temperature, this considerable and practically continuously available amount of high-temperature energy remains untapped and goes to waste.

Thermoelectric generators using this kind of thermal energy could generate enough energy to supply several thousand German households. O-Flexx has been granted support for this technology by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology.
