Geothermal
Geothermal power stations produce electrical and thermal energy using hot fluids buried deep below the earth's surface. This fluid generates steam from water in a heat exchanger that then generates electricity in a classical turbine generator circuit.
On exiting the heat exchanger the fluid is pumped back into the ground. Before this is done, however, it is cooled to ambient temperature. Here, a large quantity of waste heat is available 24 hours a day practically all year round. O-Flexx is therefore developing a system that improves the efficiency of the entire system by the use of thermoelectrics.
