Development Partners

SMS Siemag

SMS Siemag is internationally active in plant construction and mechanical engineering related to steel and nonferrous metals processing. In 2009, some 9,000 employees worldwide generated a turnover of EUR 3.9 billion.

SMS Siemag and O-Flexx Technologies have entered into a technological partnership where our high temperature PowerCell is part of a solution offered by SMS Siemag, which generates electricity from heat that would otherwise be wasted in the production process of steel and nonferrous metals.

“In the last 10-15 years, SMS Siemag has significantly expanded its product portfolio of environmental technologies. These technologies strive to combine high-level environmental protection with increasing value in production processes. Waste prevention is one of the ways to protect the environment and increase the value of the production process, and that is why we have entered into a strategic partnership with O-Flexx Technologies.

This partnership provides us with technology that we can apply in our programs for energy efficiency and energy recovery. The O-Flexx technology allows us to build solutions for our customers that reduce pollution of the environment and recover valuable waste heat from the production process,” says Christian Geerkens, Executive Vice President Steelmaking and Continuous Casting Technology Division.

Bombardier Transportation

Bombardier Transportation, a global leader in rail technology, offers the broadest portfolio in the rail industry and delivers innovative products and services that set new standards in sustainable mobility. BOMBARDIER ECO4technologies - built on the four cornerstones of energy, efficiency, economy and ecology - conserve energy, protect the environment and help improve total train performance. Bombardier Transportation is headquartered in Berlin, Germany, and has a presence in over 60 countries. It has an installed base of over 100,000 vehicles worldwide.

Bombardier Transportation and O-Flexx Technologies have entered into a strategic partnership that improves the efficiency of locomotives by reusing the waste heat of both the diesel engine and the breaking energy, turning it into electricity.

“After a long evaluation process, Bombardier has chosen the thermoelectric technology from O-Flexx Technologies to achieve our long-term objectives towards sustainability. This technology partnership opens up new opportunities to increasingly contribute to our customer's sustainability goals by further improving the efficiency of our locomotives and setting even higher standards in the field of environmental performance and cost-efficiency.

The O-Flexx team has been innovative and supportive in helping us continuously improve our solutions.”
